MOTT COMMUNITY COLLEGE OPEN HOUSE

Melinda Keway & Mott Community College

On Saturday August 9th, Melinda will be participating in Mott Community Colleges' Advanced Manufacturing, Precision Machining Open House.

The event will include two speakers, Melinda Keway, President of Michigan Emerging Markets Skills Alliance (MEMSA) and Quality Coordinator at Epic Machine in Fenton; and Al Lecz, Director, Employer Strategies - Advanced Manufacturing, Workforce Intelligence Network (WIN) of SE Michigan. They will talk about the vast applications for machining, including aviation, transportation, medical, industrial, and the high demand for skilled machinists.

Specific topics Melinda will be discussing include:
 1. The misconceptions about manufacturing 
 2. Facts supporting how vital manufacturing is to our economy and country
 3. Examples of all the industries that manufacturing touches
 4. Skill Gaps and Pipeline issues from an employers point of view

The Advanced Manufacturing – Precision Machining Open House is Saturday, August 9, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. The presentations will be from 11:00 am – noon, and demonstrations and displays will be available before and after the presentations. The event is being held in the Regional Technology Center (RTC) at Mott Community College.
